This was a portrait study that came out to be more than just a study. I loved the colors and atmosphere in the reference image and wanted to capture some dark/fiery energy in the act of lighting a cigarette. I think the painting has a powerful aura about it, emanating from the flame of the lighter. 
 
I will leave the final interruption up to you, but none the less it looks pretty bad-ass.
